WordPress Lovers of Utah met last night. I am a fortunate one…I got invited.
Now, I have to admit that a lot of what is discussed goes right over my head, but I always learn something new.
WHAT I LEARNED
1. WordPress version 2.8 is on the near horizon. There will be a new Themes Directory that looks dynamite! Talk about easy. You will be able to preview and load themes right from this directory
2. Stop Hackers. One easy way is to simply make sure you use a good user name and very good password.
Go to the Users menu in your dashboard sidebar create a new user name and a strong password, then delete your old user data.
3. Find bugs. The first step to handling any bugs is to find the bug. Is it in a plugin? or in your theme? Deactivate all of you plugins, reactivate them one by one to see if the problem shows up with a particular plugin. If the problem does not show up, the problem is in your theme.
4. Lots to learn. When I see the WordPress experts in our group working on their computers I know I have lots to learn.
5. New Plugins. Some new plugins I had not heard of were discussed. I will be checking them out and let you know about them in the future.

I was at the meeting too. I have to admit… much of it goes over my head but I glean a little out each time I go. I had a bug problem and followed the directions Sheila mentioned above. It was a plug-in problem and now it’s solved. PressingUtah will be meeting once a month and they are going to give a tutorial each month. I’m really looking forward to it. WordPress has such an expansive format… I can’t imagine using anything else.
