Why Use WordPress?

by sheila on April 6, 2009

Why should you choose to use WordPress for your blog? I got a variety of answers when I went looking for the answer to that question. The answers were as varied as the people who use the WordPress.org format.

Web designer, Jeffery Zeldman, Zeldmon.com was one of the of the first bloggers and independent publishers on the web. He tells “Why WordPress” from both a writers and designers point of view.

Web developer, Jai Nischal Verma, blogohblog.com calls WordPress a Magic CMS. (CMS: Web page published via a content management system, an automated system used for publishing documents to the Web; often based on the same template as other pages.) FileInfo.com

There is quite a WordPress Community right here in Salt Lake City, Utah. Group members tell you why they use WordPress.

You should have your niche, domain name, hosting account and a good idea of what you want your blog to look like. In a recent comment Alik Levin of “Practice This” suggested that you look at J.D. Mier’s blog for learning how to pick an effective theme. It is a must read.

To your success!

Sheila

P.S. Why use WordPress? Give WordPress a try and soon you will have your own reasons for loving WordPress.
