Famous Taglines-What Is In A Great Tagline

by sheila on August 29, 2009

Remember these famous taglines?

Just Do It
I’m lovin’ it
Things Go Better With_____
Have it your way.
What happens in ____stays in ______.
Even a caveman can do it.

Two things stand out with these famous taglines -  relevance and money.

The huge amounts of money spent on an advertising campaign can make any tagline stick in the minds of your audience. I’m “lovin’ it” is a good example of this. This tagline could be used for just about any product from hotel service to underwear. Just imagine the big money spent by McDonalds to make it stick.

“What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas has relevance since Las Vegas has a reputation for being Sin City.

Don’t have big bucks? Don’t need big bucks.

When it comes to the Internet, blogs and marketing niches, you better have a tag line that is relevant. New visitors to your site will only take a few seconds to decide if the site is relevant to their search. The best taglines say “this site is exactly what you are looking for”.

You will need to provide data that is easy to read and relevant to what your site is about.

You need a good tag line. One that tells exactly what your blog is about. For example:

PublicDomainblog.com – “Discussing the public domain and its use in creating hybrid Information Products.”

GenesisBlogging.com – “From the Beginning….Help on How to Start & Create a Blog and Get Started in Social Media.”

WaterGarden.com – ” Pond Supplies for any size pond or Water Garden”

Now there are exceptions to this rule. Your blog title could say it all. For example: SEOSmarty.comBlogBuildingU.com

The key to writing a great tagline.

  • Have an exact purpose for your site.
  • Be specific. Tell exactly what your visitor will find on your site.
  • Keyword search your tagline.
  • Make your tagline easy to find and read.
  • Be sure your site is about what your tagline has said it would be.

Hope this helps you make the big bucks,

Sheila

P.S. You don’t need a famous tagline. You need a Great Tagline that tells the visitor he has arrived.

Agreed Sheila, great tag lines can be awesome.

Press Play, Then Sleep

That’s one I came up with for my sleep audio product.

Have a great day.
