Forums are good place to start. Forums are the water cooler of the Internet. You can find a forum for any home based business. This is a great way to stay in communication with people of like businesses.
Recently, someone I know from a forum came to town. I got to meet him, it was great! We worked out ways that we could support each other’s online business. I came away with tons of new ideas. It was like a mastermind session.
Join local meet ups. Here in Utah I attend the Salt Lake City WordPress Meet-Up. Not only do I learn tons, I get to know the others. We meet once a month and keep track of each other on twitter.
I also belong to the Salt Lake City Geek Club. This very informal group is fun and informative. After two years of belonging to this club I think I am learning to speak geek.
You can join the local Twitter meet ups, Social Media meet ups, Chamber of Commerce and conventions.
Conventions are a great way to meet others working online in your industry. This is also one of the best ways to find people to partner up with to promote your business. Joint ventures are formed at conventions.
Every year I attend the local pod-casting convention. This year I am volunteering to help put the convention on. It is great fun.
