Optin Campaign – Getting Your Email Opened

by sheila on December 7, 2009

Getting your emails opened is the most important part of any optin campaign. The whole idea of your campaign is to build relationships for the sole purpose of selling product.

How do you get your emails opened?

Your first email. By the time a new member of your list gets around to opening your email, he may have forgotten that he gave permission for you to send him mail. Remind him by putting the URL of the site he opted in from. Then he can go and look as a quick reminder. I like to say something like “You gave permission for me to send you this email when your visited http://mysite.com.”

Provide great data. Your email list will want to open and read your emails if you are giving them helpful information. The best optin campaign will include information your readers want to know about. Make them anxious to get your emails. Be interested in them and what their needs and wants are. Build a relationship with them.

Give added value. Whether you do short email courses or newsletters, provide your readers with added value. Don’t you just love getting something unexpected? something over and above the norm? I know an email marketer that gives added value. As an extra bonus she adds a download to some of her emails. I get such things as recipes, kids coloring pages and gift tags. It makes me open the email…just to see what the surprise is.

Don’t sell with every email. You emails will be avoided if you try to sell something every time you send and email. Now that is not building relationships….which is what a big part of what effective email marketing is all about.

The subject line. There are three different kinds of emails that define your subject line. The free report you get with my swipe file will give you more information on creating the perfect subject line.
