The Best Affiliate Programs For Your Blog

by sheila on December 17, 2009

Finding the best affiliate program for your blog is an important task. Recently I was asked what affiliate programs I would recommend.

First off I would have to say that your most important step is to find affiliate products that are relevant to your blog. It would be pretty weird for you to all of the sudden started writing about hosting, when your blog is on beauty.

On this blog I am an affiliate for:

  • Thesis Theme, this blog is on this Wordpress theme. Love my theme.
  • Mozy, has free or cheap backup for all of your computer data. A must for any one using a computer.
  • This blog is hosted by Hostgator. They have a great support team and video training.
  • My auto-responder is AWeber, I get great service, price and training videos. I personally use and love these products. They are all relevant to my blog.

Every one of these are relevant to my blog. I know these products because I use them.

Along the way I have found people and products that pertain to my blog that I would highly recommend to Newbies. You will find banner ads on my blog for these. And I write reviews on the products.

Second, I always look for affiliates that give me lifetime commissions. Some merchants offer what is called a cookie duration. For example Hostgator pays you for every month your prospect stays with them. For more companies that pay over the life time go to LifetimeCommissions.com.

Third, you will find a very good tutorial on affiliates at LifetimeCommissions. He will recommend that you set up niche sites to market your affiliate products. These would be specific sites separate from your blog.

If your interests lie with affiliate niche sites,

Fourth, there are very reputable affiliate networks out there that represent some big names. Check out; Linkshare, and Hydra. They are easy to sign up for.

Clickbank is famous for digital affiliate products in every category. Be sure to review any product you get from Clickbank to make sure it is up to your standards. Clickbank is also easy to sign up for.

All of the networks I have suggested have excellent tracking and payment systems which makes it easy on you. They are a safe way to go.

Now for some random recommendations: MonsterTones.com – pays 15% commission per sale.ringtone sale. iTunes – pays 5% commissions. Indie-Music.com – you can earn 20% Commissions on referals. eMusic.com – you can earn $6.00 for every free trial sign up.

Hmmm. That list would make an interesting niche site

P.S.S. You can search for affiliate programs in your niche by doing a Google search just type in “your product + affililiate”. Example: (“dog collars +affiliates”). Good luck in finding the best affiliate program for your blog.
