“Work at home on Internet is not a new idea. Becoming a telecommuter has become easier and the jobs have improved. I like this option because you can live way out yonder (like me) and still work for a brick and mortar business.
When considering a work at home job you can consider the money you save as part of your pay. You’ll save time and commuting expense along with the expense of clothes you buy just for work. Yous save the time you spend getting ready for work, and paying a baby sitter.
The money you save can out-weigh the cost of setting up for work. You will need a computer and high speed Internet
Here is a list of work at home sites that offer great work at home opportunities.
Convergys- hires customer service agents for a huge variety of companies.
Staffcentrix- hires virtual assistants to perform tasks at home for executives and other clients.
VIPDesk – staffs customer service agents for a variety of companies to take inbound service calls.
AlpineAccess- staffs home based agents for 1 800-number companies.
West Corporation- finds home based customer service agents for a big variety of companies.
Advantages of working from home.
- Live anywhere and work for a going concern.
- You would be working for a business that is already running.
- Great way to earn money while pursuing another Internet business. You would be at home earning money, making it easier to spend time learning and producing for any new venture you may want to get going.
- A reliable pay check.
- A good “stay at home mom” or retirement job.
- A set schedule. For those who need and want that kind of constraint.
Disadvantages of working from home.
- People complain that staying at home lacks the social interaction.
- Pay is not the best…but I always consider travel time, gas money and I spend less on other things.
- Having to pay for computer and high-speed Internet. Check with you tax adviser, this may be tax deductible.
- A set schedule.
Scams: There are work at home scams out there so be scam savvy, go to Scambusters.org for great advise on what to look for and a list of scams and how they work. The key to avoiding any scam is to “know before you go”. Know exactly what you are getting into. Check it out thoroughly. Do not agree to a work at home job until you have checked Scambusters out.
Remember to never give your personal information to anyone. Always use secure sites for any money transaction. Watch for an s after the http in there website address (https://). PayPal is a good example.
Keep it simple

I’ve been a work at home blogger for more than 2 years already and enjoying every minute of the freedom.
The only bad thing is that I lacked exercising during these times which are BAD.
Need to get one of those exercising machines to get me back on track
Working at home does have advantages and disadvantages..

Good point! I have run into the same thing…not enough exercise. It is easy for me avoid it.

I am currently exploring the benefits of having to work at home. I am little bit bewildered at the many things I should know. Thanks for your advice about scammers and sharing a link to know more information. There is much to learn.

When you work at home you also have the potential to be a lot more productive (as long as you are self-disciplined). You can get up as early as you want, stay up as late as you want, and take as many breaks as you want. You can work anywhere and anytime, you can even get work done on vacations to Costa Rica, with a couple Coronas by your side…whatever floats your boat!

@Steven
It does take self-discipline…but that is such a small price to play for such great rewards. Costa Rica sounds great about right now.
