SEO and backlinks are so simple when it comes to learning how to blog on WordPress.
No matter how you look at it, getting traffic to your website, blog, opt in page and sales page can be quite a game. A game that can be played so many different ways that it can be confusing.
Two of the most important ways to get traffic….and ways you can include in everything you do, are SEO and Links.
Whether you are blogging, twittering or putting up an opt in box, taking the time to do your keyword search can go long way to getting you seen on the web.
Even when I set up opt in pages for list building I use keywords for may domain name, opt in page and sales page. I like using the WordPress platform because I can set up my optin page as a static page and then add keyworded posts to get traffic to the site.
You can also use your keywords for getting quality backlinks when you are commenting on other blogs, guest posting or even twittering.
Here is a video that Matt Cutts (of Google) did last September. He gives very solid advice. He also explains the advantages of blogging on WordPress.

Now keep in mind…today, WordPress is much more than a blogging platform. You can use it for membership sites, ecommerce sites, adsense, static sites, opt in pages and sales pages. Why not? with all the SEO advantages built right in.

P.S. I found the Matt Cutts video while I was searching for data on building websites for my offline customers. You can see the rest of the info at ProBogger.net.

Thank you for sharing these resources. Honestly speaking, I have no idea about how to implement SEO on my blog.
Hi Walter,
There seems to be a big mystery built around SEO, partly because there is some guessing about what the Search Engines are looking at. Also the game can change at anytime, which we have seen in the past. There are whole entire companies that build their business around SEO. Some of the members of our Salt Lake Geek Club work for SEO.com, a company that does SEO for great big companies. So it is an important part of getting seen.
The good thing is that WordPress is built to help you take advantage of SEO, just like Matt Cutts points out in the video.
I will be posting about SEO on May 01. Stop back by for some really good references that will help you.
