Content Copywriting- Do Your Readers Feel Compelled?

Content copywriting is king when it comes to writing your blog.

The purpose of your money making blog is to give out free information, build relationships, and build trust.  You want your readers to stop by, feel compelled to stay and then take action.

What will compel they to stay?

1. Attention grabbing headlines.

2. Easy to read layout.

3. Interesting Content.

What makes interesting content? If it is valuable to them , it is interesting.

AIDA — Ask any copywriter and they this is the best known copywriting formula. It stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. Every successful promotional message must attract Attention, arouse Interest, stimulate Desire, and present a compelling call for Action.

Give your readers something of value and the reason it is valuable.

For example: If you are reviewing a product, just listing the features is not enough. Tell them the benefits they will get by using the product. If you are selling a service, tell them what would be the advantage of using your service.

Focusing on benefits makes for compelling sales letters. The formula also works for writing your money making blog. No matter what you are writing about, write so that your reader feels enhanced by your ideas and information.

What will compel them to take action?

Your relationship with your with your readers. You build relationships by caring that your readers walk away with data they can use.

You build trust by giving information that really works.

If you are currently blogging, take a look at your posts. Did you care for your readers? Did you give them something they can walk a way with? Did you give them a reason to take action?

Remember writers write.

P.S. Content Copywriting is fun. Not only do you get to help your readers, you get to express your self.

  1. You just said a mouthful, Sheila!

It always comes back around, full circle, to the principle of establishing trust, doesn’t it?

If your readers like what you write and they find your posts informative and genuinely directed to their interests and needs, you’ve got a winner!

I like to mix it up a bit on my blog as far as combining a little bit of business and some personal reflections on life. Especially if I’m writing about business topics, I like to try my best to tie those into something people can relate to in every day life.

    Hi Sheila,

Terrific post! Keeping AIDA in mind while you’re writing will do wonders all by itself.

You know when I was taking my copywriting course I thought I understood the difference between features and benefits, but while writing my lessons I found that I often mixed them up. I think a lot of people do that. It’s easy to get them wrong. For instance, say you’re promoting a 4-week online course… sounds good… relatively fast, convenient, etc. Seems obvious enough, but you really need to say it’s fast, convenient, simple, fun… etc. Spell it out! THOSE are the benefits.

I’m also a big fan of swipe files! They can really help kick creativity into gear.

    Great tips!

@Melanie, Mixing in some personal reflections is a good idea. You become more real to them.

@Deb, I still have to look twice at whether it is a benefit or a feature. “Spell it out.” hadn’t thought of it that way. I could be much better at that.

Thanks you guys your comments really add great information.
