Writing Blogs as Your Calling Card and More

by sheila on June 14, 2010

Writing blogs as your calling card tells the world who you are and what you are all about. This is a big part of branding yourself as an authority. But are you taking advantage of what your blog can do for your?

When I first started blogging I chose a blog that is an affiliate market place blog. Market place blogs give valuable information and recommend products they are promoting as an affiliate. Then I noticed that several bloggers I like to follow do not use their sites for affiliate products. They use their sites as “Calling Cards”.It is a different way of making money online. Your blog becomes your stable point.

Blogging is just one one part of an Internet marketing strategy. The rest of the strategy would include email maketing, webinars and social media. This package of tools make it possible to market and promote your own products as well as affiliate products.

Using this strategy you keep your blog very simple and direct. You just dole out great information. Then take the data you have written on your blog and re-purpose it:

  • Do article marketing. Send your blog post to Ezines.com and make sure your sends readers to a sales page or opt in box.
  • Take your blog data and make ebooks, free reports and email news letters.
  • Turn you blog posts into webinars for training and video.
  • Send your posts to Facebook and Twitter.
  • Make a video of your blog posts and put them on You Tube.

Whew! Seem like a lot? The point is to take advantage of writing blogs. You put a lot of time and effort in to providing great content. Re-purpose that content.

Sheila

P.S. Now when your are writing your blogs, think about what direction you are moving and package it.

Readers know about the authors through the writing, the concept, idea and style. These elements describe the author of the content itself. And yeah, writing blogs as our calling card is a new perspective that’s nice to be implemented.

Re-purposing content is a marketing strategies that seems to get over-looked or neglected. I think we all have the tendency to want to present “new..new…new.”

It’s said that one concept needs to be repeated at least three times for learner to “get it.” Not only can you re-purpose your content into other forms… but you can use the same content several times in the same form. For instance… you can blog about the same content several times. All you have to do is re-create it using different words and changing the format.

Where a reader may have missed it the first time… it will resonate with them the second or third time.

Sheila ~

I’m a firm believer that your target audience needs to see your messages between 7 – 12 times before most of them will take action.

So re-purposing your blog posts will give you the opportunity to share your messages in a myriad of ways as you have suggested.

I like the term, “calling card”, to describe your blog. Because that’s what it really is! It’s where you want to send people to begin to build a relationship with you.

Instead of dialing a phone number from a business card, you want people to “call” on you on your blog. :-)

Thanks for you great input. It looks like re-purposing is not only smart way to take advantage of your efforts…but a way to get your readers attention.
