3 Ways To Get Your Marketing Plan Off The Back Burner

Do you find it easy to let your marketing plans sit on the back burner? Do you find your self so busy with writing your blog that you do not have time to put a marketing plan into action? What? No marketing plan?

Make a marketing plan with power…staying power.

Search Engine Optimization -  SEO is one of the most popular search terms on the web. The domain name SEO.com was purchased for $5,000,000. Does that give you a good idea why learning good SEO skills, like using keywords, are a must.

Get busy and learn SEO if you plan to be in this game for the long haul. This is not an overnight thing. Basic SEO has long term staying power. And takes time to learn and put into place.

Social Networking - You can start today! And you do not have to learn anything new. Go and comment on other sites in your niche.

Add value to what the blogger has said. Be sure to read the post. You want your comments to be relevant.

Brand your self. Get a Gravitar (picture). Brand your self with your name and title. For example: Sheila Atwood, Newbie Lifeline.

Email marketing - Put your email marketing front and center. Start building your list now. List building will bring you the income you know you deserve. Put your attention on growing your list in both size and value.

Start by putting an optin box on your blog. Even if all you can manage is a weekly update. Even if you do not have a product to promote. Build that list and build a relationship with your readers. Build their trust.

Take a few hours and set up your email system. To help your get started, aWeber has step by step instructions, video tutorials and weekly webinars.

If you have already started your list building, get more people on your list. Check out Subscribers Magnet to jump-start your list.

No need to jump from the frying pan into the fire. Ouch! Simply make marketing part of your day.

  • Do an action step towards your SEO.
  • Go comment on other blogs.
  • And most of all get your list building up and running.

Sheila

  1. First off, Sheila, I LOVE the graphic you’re using for this post!

I can’t begin to put into words how critical a marketing plan is.

The one thing some small biz owners don’t understand is that your marketing plan has the flexibility to be altered. It’s not like a “contract” that’s engraved in stone. You can add or subtract marketing strategies depending on what’s working for and what’s not and test some new strategies whenever you like. The key, of course, is to start with a plan and stick with it consistently until you can see some valid results – negative or positive.

You’ve done a really great job of mapping out the foundational components of a rock solid marketing plan!

Thanks for the complement on the graphic…learned that one from you.

No matter the business, online or off line, there has to be a marketing plan. I see great little business start ups that do not make it because they fail to market.
