Every business person makes decisions on how they will be running their business. They personally decide what is ethical.
Outsourcing is a common practice in the business world. You can be sure that most store owners are not building their store signs. They are also outsourcing advertising, bookkeeping, janitorial work and a whole host of other services.
Doing business online is not any different. You are most likely already web outsourcing your hosting, domain registration and auto-responders. As your online business grows you’ll find your self outsourcing more and more. It is simply a smart way to do business.
Often the question of using Private Label Rights or a Ghostwriter comes into question.
Is Using Ghostwriters and Private Label Rights Ethical?
Nicole Dean of EasyPLR answers that question in this video.

It’s an interesting dilemma. I agree with Nicole, I don’t think outsourcing your articles is unethical, but you would need to be very careful with the articles you choose. This could be part of your business blogging strategy.
But I wouldn’t just use these. I think it’s important to incorporate your own voice, or news, or articles into your blog as well.
Thanks for sharing this for discussion Sheila.

Sheila you’re right about using your own voice. Some of the information you read online is like reading a robot. I always try to keep it entertaining and add an anecdote. That personal touch is so important!

Hi Sheila!
It’s funny how it’s only called outsourcing when you’re talking about online businesses. I bet my local newsagent doesn’t think he’s outsourcing when he has his accountant do his taxes.
Ghost writing is perfectly ethical. There is a mutually beneficial agreement between the writer and the person they are writing for. It’s when there’s no agreement that you cross the ethical boundary. But that’s not ghost writing, that’s called plagiarism.
My open source involvement tells me that PLR is perfectly fine too. That stuff is specifically licenced to share and reuse.
Kind regards,
Steve

I believe smart outsourcing is one good solution for people who have too many things do but have less time to do them all.

It has been a solution for me. Not only with things like design but using PLR. It is actually fun to take the ideas and make them my own. Nicole does an excellent job in providing quality content to work with.
@Fiona,
You are so right. Putting the content into your own voice is the key.
@Steve
I think you hit the nail on the head. Keeping the arranged agreements make difference.
The other day I saw some eco friendly “Martha Stewart” cleaning products. Now I know Martha is not making that product. She has put here name on it….her private label.

I am a big fan of outsourcing. My business wouldn’t have grown to where it is without outsourcing. Every online biz owner should see themselves as the CEO of their business. The CEO delegates tasks and wouldn’t dream of doing them all herself!

Hi Sheila
I had a discussion about this topic with a blog owner who presented a similar argument. I would not call someone else’s work my own cos it is not.
When I post an article, it is what I have written. If someone else writes it then I would put their name to it.
However, outsourcing techie work, or design work I would be open to. In fact a techie friend has set up my newsletter opt-in for me. At the bottom of the letter it acknowledges him, as does my next post to say that he has done it. I wrote the newsletter but he did the techie stuff and the design.
Happy to give credit where the credit is due. Just my 2 cents.

I too believe that outsourcing to ghost writers is perfectly ethical, is just the way online businesses work these day, when you don’t have enough time to do all the tasks required to run a website/business.

I personally wouldn;t outsource as I like to hear myself talk, er…see myself right. However, if people are responsible in their usage of said ghostwriters…amen to them! loved the video too.

Smart outsourcing is the “it” factor now in online business. Bloggers or none bloggers alike. Small to large business. I agree to the fact that ghostwriters is ethical to this world of social media or none social media alike. But they should have boundaries, so they won’t look fake.

Hi Sheila,
Great article, outsourcing is something normal and a smart thing to do. Outsourcing is perfect for people who just haven’t got the time and/or the required knowledge to do some things the way they should be done. I used in the past outsourcing and I strongly recommend it, I like it.
Best regards,
Maria

Outsourcing may be the key to success. If done in time you can bring only benefits. It is real that some people avoid outsourcing for reason that other people are not agry with that. Outsourcing today has become a necessity but most of the people are not understand yet.
